Viscosupplementation replenishes a naturally occurring substance in the knee, which acts as a lubricant and shock absorber, and is depleted in osteoarthritis. It maycan increase the cushioning and lubrication of an arthritic knee joint, enabling the bones to move smoothly on each other and reduce or eliminate pain that occurs due to osteoarthritis. Although it is not a cure, when used properly, viscosupplementation may help to provide up to several months of relief in an arthritic joint. Our physicians will take various factors into consideration to help determine if this is an appropriate treatment option for you.
Custom Knee Bracing
A custom knee arthritis brace can help unload the part of the knee joint that is arthritic to help decrease the “bone-on-bone” pressure, and reduce the pain you feel when you walk or run. We have custom bracing options on the premises for your convenience and comfort.
Our physiotherapists have specialized training to help with the pain and stiffness of osteoarthritis. They use a combination of hands-on, manual therapy treatment techniques, and exercises, acupuncture and modalities to reduce stiffness, and pain, and improve mobility. Our physiotherapists also work closely with other therapists such as Registered Massage Therapists and Osteopaths and can incorporate a variety of hands-on treatment techniques tailored to your needs.
Acupuncture can be an effective way to manage the pain and inflammation of arthritis. We have several practitioners that can incorporate acupuncture as a part of your treatment plan.

In addition to individual exercise programs Wwe have created an innovative, physiotherapist-led Knee Exercise Classspecifically designed to strengthen your knee and leg to help reduce the pain and stiffness from arthritis.
Running and Walking Mechanics Analysis
Faulty mechanics can place a constant low-grade strain on the joints and tissues around your knees. These repetitive forces occur with every step we take or every mile we run, and this can contribute to the pain, stiffness and inflammation of osteoarthritis. Our Running and Walking Mechanics Analysis is a systemic evaluation of the way in which you move with the use of video capture images while you walk or run. Awareness and cueing can often correct faulty movement patterns. Other times the professional must also identify muscle weakness or tightness that is causing the faulty movement pattern, & show you how to correct this.
