Feldenkrais®What is Feldenkrais®?The Feldenkrais® Method is a system of exercises that alleviates pain and stiffness, minimizes work-related strain and improves posture. It achieves this by identifying and correcting your bad habits of movement and posture that can cause nagging aches and pains, stiffness, and injury. Through a series of exercises you learn how to replace your bad postural and movement habits with more proficient ones that minimize strain on your body and allow you to move more comfortably and easily. For example, everyone tends to acquire subtle but damaging habits in how they sit, walk, reach for objects, even hold a pen. Over the years these habits begin to cause strain on your muscles and joints that can contribute to pain, make you susceptible to injury, or interfere with your recovery from injury. By identifying and correcting these damaging habits you begin to move in a more efficient way that minimizes the strain on your body, reduces pain and stiffness, and promotes healing. Who Can Benefit?Anyone can benefit from Feldenkrais®, regardless of age or physical condition. Whether you want to be more comfortable sitting at your computer, playing with your children and grandchildren, exercising or performing a favorite pastime, these gentle exercise can help you move more freely and improve your overall well-being. It is effective for people recovering from injuries, seeking relief from chronic pain, or otherwise wanting to be more active or improve their posture. It can also help athletes, dancers and musicians "fine tune" their bodies to improve their performance and skill. Feldenkrais® ClassesAwareness Through Movement lessons help you improve your posture, develop greater core mobility, and relieve pain and stiffness. The classes will consist of carefully-paced movements designed to help you regain suppleness and comfort in all the movements of your trunk. Each class will be organized around a central movement theme, such as reaching, turning, or bending. You will learn to recognize and let go of inefficient movement and postural habits. Your actions will become lighter, freer, more supported through your structure, more effective and comfortable to do. Feldenkrais® Private SessionsPhysioPlus Health Group also offers Feldenkrais Functional Integration® sessions which is a private session during which the Feldenkrais® practitioner uses gentle hands-on work to help individuals learn to release unnecessary holding, re-establish more efficient and stress-free movement patterns.
